In America, it ranked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also was ranked #1 in Australia.
This song is based on the doll created by Mattel and includes lyrics about Barbie and Ken. The video of the song includes Ken played by René Dif and Lene Nystrøm Rasted playing Barbie.

Aqua was sued by Mattel as it stated that through this song, the band had violated the trademark copyrights of Mattel and referred to her as a Blonde Bimbo. Mattel also stated that the Aqua Barbie Girl song tarnished the image of Barbie, turning her into a sex symbol by its lyrics such as ‘You Can Touch Me There’
In a VH1 poll conducted, this song was voted #32 in VH1’s "Most Awesomely Bad Songs... Ever" and was also ranked at #4 in the "Best Number One of All Time." Rolling Stone in it list of the 20 Most Annoying Songs, voted for Barbie Girl.
